It was a rematch of District 13AAA foes on Saturday, November 15, as Lovejoy took on Princeton for the Region II-AAA Championship and the right to move on to the State Tournament. In game 1, both teams battled back and forth with Lovejoy gaining a small lead only to see Princeton pull back within 1-2 points. Down the stretch, Lovejoy was able to put together a scoring run to win by a 25-19 margin. In game 2, Princeton gained the lead and had game point in their grasp with the score 24-23. Princeton was called for contact with the net as the ball fell on Lovejoy's side. This evened the score at 24. The Leopards seized the moment and won the next two points to win game 2 with a score of 26-24. With Lovejoy having the 2-0 lead, Princeton did not give up.
In game 3, Princeton gained an initial lead of 7-2. Lovejoy continued to battle back but never really got close until the closing moments of the game. With Princeton leading 21-17, the Leopards clawed back into the game to tie it at 23. The points went back and forth with each team having the chance to close out the game. It was Lovejoy who came out on top as they put together two consecutive points and pulled ahead in the end to win 28-26.
With the win, Lovejoy will move on to the State Volleyball tournament where they will play Caldwell in the Semifinals on Friday, November 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Texas State University. |

The LHS Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams competed for the State 3A Championships November 15 in Round Rock, Texas. With only one exception, all runners met or improved their performances from a month ago when the team ran this same course at the McNeil Invitational. The boys team combined to shave 1:07 off their previous times, while the girls team amputated a staggering 5:20 off their times. Unfortunately neither team was able place in the top three. At State, all of the runners are fast. But the overall mood of the team and coaches was upbeat after their first taste of LHS team championship racing.
