According to the food pantry volunteers, we raised enough food from Lovejoy homes to supply the hungry and needy of McKinney and surrounding areas for approximately a month. What does this food mean to the pantry?

1,676 individuals will have their needs met for a month.  Of those 1,676 people, 831 are children and will not have to go to bed hungry.

When a few people put their minds to it, they can have a big difference on the community!   I cannot tell you how hard Pam and Erin Matlock worked on this project.  They were the inspiration and the impetus of the entire effort.

Frank Fitzgerald helped tremendously with the pick up and delivery of the food.   Rhonda, Jason, and Mark Ferreira, our neighbor's son who was nice enough to help us, did most of the legwork on our side.  And we want to thank Kroger's for kindly donating the grocery bags.

I learned quickly, undertaking a food drive in areas with homes on acreage is work.  It wasn't like walking down a typical street in Allen with one home right next to the other.  Almost all of the homes in Lucas and Fairview are on acreage and spread out, so we got our exercise.

But most of all, Erin, Pam, Frank, Rhonda, and I want to thank each and every one of you who contributed food to this cause.  All of these donations came from homes located within Lovejoy ISD.  To those of you who were able to make a contribution, you can all sleep better knowing you have made a big difference to some very needy people.  Lovejoy walks the walk when it comes to helping out those who are less fortunate!

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
