New! Ice Age Mammals (June 5 - October 10)

Have fun this summer as ten species of stomping, roaring, life-like robotic Ice Age mammals come alive indoors at the Heard. The group includes a hippopotamus-like Baluchitherium, a saber-toothed cat family of four and a wooly mammoth. Educational programming encourages aspiring paleontologists to learn prehistoric facts. Enjoy a cool summer evening. See the new Ice Age Mammals indoor exhibit and watch the animated movie, Ice Age, under the stars in the outdoor amphitheater.

Be immersed among beautiful fluttering native Texas butterflies in the Heard butterfly house and new butterfly garden. Rest on garden benches and watch as butterflies hover among hundreds of plants that attract them for their daily diet.
