New! Ice Age Mammals (June 5 - October 10)

Have fun this summer as ten species of stomping, roaring, life-like robotic Ice Age mammals come alive indoors at the Heard. The group includes a hippopotamus-like Baluchitherium, a saber-toothed cat family of four and a wooly mammoth. Educational programming encourages aspiring paleontologists to learn prehistoric facts. Ice Age Mammals Grand Opening Celebration (June 6)

Enjoy a cool summer evening. See the new Ice Age Mammals indoor exhibit and watch the animated movie, Ice Age, under the stars in the outdoor amphitheater.

Sunday, June 6 (Rain Date: Friday, June 11)

7:30-10:30 PM

Tickets are only $7/adult and $5/ages 3-12

Museum members get a $1 discount per ticket

Native Texas Butterfly House & New! Butterfly Garden (June 5 - October)

Be immersed among beautiful fluttering native Texas butterflies in the Heard butterfly house and new butterfly garden. Rest on garden benches and watch as butterflies hover among hundreds of plants that attract them for their daily diet.

No matter what your family’s interests are, the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary has something for everyone including our Animals of the World exhibit featuring non-native animals as well as our collection of native Texas reptiles and amphibians. Enjoy the beauty of the native plant garden, a 289-acre wildlife sanctuary with more than seven nature trails as well as the beautiful Heard ropes course and canoe/kayak program.
