Lovejoy ISD 5th graders quickly acclimated to their new home for the next 3 days at the Collin County Adventure Camp.

The day began with sack lunches from home and moving into their cabins.  Then the students headed over to the Education Center for group orientation.  Students then dispersed into groups consisting of students from all 3 Lovejoy Elementary campuses for rotation through learning stations for an afternoon full of classes.  Activities included a hiking on nature trails, challenge course activities, archery and canoeing.

After class time, students spent their free time at the camp store checking out the offerings, having snacks and relaxing in their cabins, and playing football, basketball and tetherball before dinner.  Students enjoyed the first night's dinner of spaghetti and meatballs at the Dining Hall.

The day ended with a night hike for all students.  The hike began with a beautiful sunset and continued on with students, parents and teachers holding hands down the trail as guides led them through the woods in the dark.  Students enjoyed lessons on nocturnal animals with some wildlife spottings and learning how human eyes adjust to darkness versus animal eyes.

The day ended with lights out at 9:30 p.m.   We'll see you tomorrow!

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
