Greetings to you all,
I hope this e-mail finds you staying cool and enjoying your summer break. All is going well at Lovejoy Elementary. We’ve hosted summer school and the enrichment camps, and have had more activity than a typical summer. We are anxious to have our precious Leopards return for the 2010 – 2011 school year.

I’ve been fortunate to see many of the Lovejoy Staff as we’ve just completed our first week of Learning @ Lovejoy. It’s exciting to see our returning staff and to attend excellent training sessions that will directly benefit our Lovejoy Leopards. This isn’t typical for surrounding districts, so I feel especially blessed to serve in a district that places emphasis on growing their professionals by offering sessions by well-know experts in the teaching field. Along with our Lovejoy ISD employees, outside-the-district professionals joined us totaling over 700 in attendance. I am certainly looking forward to the next two weeks of classes.
Purple Cow Fund-Raising Night Benefiting Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure
I feel safe in saying that all of us have lost a friend or family member to cancer. I am especially proud of 4 of our Puster teachers making a difference, one being my daughter Rebecca. To earn money, The Purple Cow is hosting a fund-raising night for Team Hope Chest, a team partly made up of several teachers from the district. Please join Rebecca May, Courtney Claborn, Shannon Price and their team at the Purple Cow in Fairview on Tuesday, August 3rd anytime between 4:30-close. The team will receive 15% of all profits from customers who mention they've come to support Team Hope Chest. All money made will go toward their collective goal of $11,500 to be given to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Thanks for your support!
New Hires
Lovejoy’s Assistant Principal, Tonya Jasenof, has chosen to serve as an Assistant Principal for Allen ISD. Being a larger district, she felt her opportunity to become a principal might be sooner, rather than later. Amy Bradsher, Lovejoy’s second grade teacher for the past 3 years, will serve as an administrative intern. We are excited to have Amy on board as part of our administrative team. She is a graduate from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />University of Georgia and has 21 years teaching experience. Her youngest daughter, Tyler, is a recent graduate of LovejoyHigh School. Jackie, her oldest, is an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force. Her husband, Tim, works for American Airline.
Also new to Lovejoy, is Amy Geis. Amy will serve as a kindergarten teacher for the 2010-2011 school year. Kindergarten teacher, Brittany Scott, was moved to 2nd grade to take Amy Bradsher’s place as a grade level teacher. Both Amys – confusing?
Amy Gies is a recent graduate of Texas Woman’s University, graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Development. Amy and her mom, also and elementary teacher, have already spent many hours preparing her room for our newest members of the Lovejoy Family.
Below are a few important upcoming dates. Be sure to watch for our summer mail out on August 7th or 8th. I hope you all enjoy the remainder of your summer break and look forward to seeing you all on the 19th of August at Meet the Teacher Night!
