Good morning, Lovejoy Families,

As we wind down from the 2009-2010 school year, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for such an amazing year.  We have certainly enjoyed working with your precious children and continue to appreciate all you do to make this an amazing place to be!  No, Lovejoy isn’t typical.  You dedicate your time, talents, and resources to see to it that both the Lovejoy staff and students have the support to do our best work.  We will certainly miss our 5^th graders but we are all excited for what lies ahead.  What an exciting time in their young lives!  Also, we are already in the planning stages of this next school year and look forward to seeing our newest members, our kindergarteners, and anxiously await the return of those children returning to Lovejoy Elementary for the 2010- 2011 school year. Be watching for my mail out on August 6^th.  Included, will be my letter with upcoming events as well as information from our PTA.

Support children throughout the summer:
I know summer is here and I'm sure you're all looking forward to doing wonderful things with your children. Well while you're getting some essentials for the summer did you know our school can get credit? All you have to do is link your Kroger, Tom Thumb, and Target cards, this will help Lovejoy’s PTA without costing you a dime. It's an awesome way to support our school & children. All while shopping @ our local stores.

To link to Target: Go to the Service Desk and ask them to link your Target Visa to
Lovejoy Elementary. (this Visa card can be used anywhere)-

To link to Tom Thumb: Simply ask the cashier to link your Tom Thumb rewards card to
Lovejoy Elementary PTA.  Our number is : 12154

To link to Kroger: On the reverse side of the paper that was sent home in Thursday folders, there is a bar code that they will scan to link your Kroger Plus Card.


*This has to be done annually, so please next time you're in one of these stores take a moment to get your cards. We'd love to get more credit, so we can do even more programs for our amazing children. Thank you in advance for all you do for the school & our PTA.

Also, please be sure to check your child’s Thursday Folder for a sheet to place your Box Tops throughout the summer.  Please save Box Tops over the summer & we'll have a contest to see who gets the most collected the first week of school.

Summer Enrichment

Back by popular demand, we will once again offer “Club Invention” this summer.  Directed by our very own Jacie McDonald, children will experience hands-on creative activities from July 12^th – 16^th – 9:00 – 12:30 here at Lovejoy Elementary.   For more information, be sure to view the attached flyer. 

From The Nurse

If your child has medicine at school, please make sure your child has exactly enough medicine to finish the school year.  You are responsible for picking up any extra medicine as the school has a policy against sending medicines with students.

At the end of this school year, any remaining medicines, including inhalers, that have not been picked up will be thrown out.  The school cannot store these for you during the summer. 

Please remember, if your child is going to continue being medicated at school during the 2010-2011 school year, you will need to have a new medication sheet filled out.

Spanish Handout

Lovejoy’s Spanish teacher, Lilliam Cano, has taken the time to prepare a handout for the children’s use throughout the summer.  Included are common phrases all students may review as well as grade specific phrases.  Please be sure to copy the attachment and encourage your children to practice phrases they’ve used throughout this school year. 

Overflow Parking and Early Dismissal

If you are attending end-of-year events, we respectfully request that you use the church parking lot, north of the school, for overflow parking.  Also, a reminder that we do dismiss students tomorrow at 12:00.
