Good Thursday afternoon, Lovejoy Families,

It’s difficult to believe that we are in the single digit numbers when counting down the days of the 2009-2010 school year. It has gone by much too quickly for me! I certainly appreciate you allowing me to have the opportunity to serve this awesome district and school for a third year. Being a part of this community has been such a positive, rewarding experience for me and this is due to these adorable children and your continuous support! A few reminders as we wind down:

Early Release and School

A reminder that Monday, May 31st is a school holiday. We hope you have big plans with your family. Also, Friday, June 4th, we do have a 12:00 release for all elementary students.

5th Grade Events for the Last Day

8:00-9:00 – Yearbook signing

9:00-9:30 – School Walk

9:30 – 11:30 – Awards Assembly – gym

11:30 – 12:00 – Lunch

TAKS Reports

If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, be sure and check your child’s folder for a Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (the TAKS) report. The report, along with an explanation sheet, are in a white envelope. Please do not hesitate to call me at (469)742-8077 if you have questions or concerns about your child’s results.

From The Nurse

If your child has medicine at school, please make sure your child has exactly enough medicine to finish the school year.  You are responsible for picking up any extra medicine as the school has a policy against sending medicines with students.

At the end of this school year, any remaining medicines, including inhalers, that have not been picked up will be thrown out.  The school cannot store these for you during the summer.

Please remember, if your child is going to continue being medicated at school during the 2010-2011 school year, you will need to have a new medication sheet filled out.

Thank you,
Kellie Oates RN, BSN, NCSN

Thanks to the Allen Fire Department

We have been fortunate to have a week long presentation on fire safety, thanks to

Station 2 of the Allen Fire Department. Today is the final day with our 2nd graders. Tanie Rippy coordinated this awesome event and it proved to be both enjoyable and informative for our children. Each grade level was provided hands on demonstrations and participated in various activities that were fun and educational. Please take the time to follow up at home and discuss key fire safety points with your family.  Special thanks go out to our Lovejoy Volunteers that made this program possible.  Be sure to check out future stories on the Lovejoylove website – www.lovejoylove.org
