It’s difficult to believe we are completing our 3rd week of school! Your children are just wonderful. Jr. Leopard Cheer Clinic Registration Ends Today
Registrations need to be turned in by Thursday, September 9 for the Saturday, September 18 Jr. Leopard Cheer Clinic held at Lovejoy High School from 2:00 to 5:00. Registrations received after September 9th cannot be guaranteed a Cheer Clinic T-shirt. Don't miss out on the opportunity to learn cheers, chants and jumps as well as cheer down on the sidelines during the Varsity Football home game Sept. 24 (Leopard Friday) with the award winning L.H.S. Ice Cream Social
One week from this evening, the 16th of September is the PTA’s annual ice cream social. I hope you are planning on attending as it is a fun evening for both parents and children! We will enjoy ice cream and toppings in the cafeteria at 6:30. PTA Directory Cover Contest
It is that time of year! Children may enter a contest to decorate the PTA Parent Directory. There are 4 winners – 1st and 2nd from grades Kindergarten through 2nd and 1st and 2nd place winners from grades 3 through 5. The deadline for entries is Friday, October 1st. Be sure to mark your calendar for the upcoming Leopard Friday event. My hope is that we’ll all be gathering together for a pep rally, barbeque, and the Lovejoy High School Varsity football game on Friday, September 24th.
Workshop for Parents – Alice Redding – STRIPES
Ms. Redding will be teaching a three step method which incorporates breathing, movement and R&R (Quiet Sitting) to teach not only children but parents as well how to calm down, create clarity, focus and concentration to cultivate the “perfect mental state for listening and learning”. Join us in the Lovejoy ISD Lecture Hall on Sepember 23rd at 7:00p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Art To Go... Art to Go is a CELEBRATION of the visual arts focusing on elementary school students. It is an art appreciation program which exposes school children and adults to great works of art every month. Volunteers are needed for each classroom…no experience needed, lead a 45-minute discussion with students, artwork portfolio provided along with background information, suggested discussion questions & classroom activities. if you would like to volunteer for your child's class or if you have questions. The kick off meeting is Sept. 27th at 7pm at Lovejoy High School.
Social Skills – “Introducing Yourself”
When practicing the social skill “Introducing Yourself” have the children: 1. Look at the person. 2. Use a pleasant voice. 3. Offer a greeting. Say ‘Hi” my name is….. 4. Shake the person’s hand. 5. When you leave, say “It was nice to meet you.” What a great time in the children’s lives to teach the proper way to introduce themselves.
Character Education Assembly this past Tuesday
This past Tuesday afternoon, we enjoyed a great motivating kick-off to our character education emphasis for the year. We welcomed back a team from Primary Focus that presented their motivating musical character ed assembly! As they did last year, they featured and reinforced the character traits that we focus on each year - Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness, Trustworthiness, and Citizenship. The assembly lasted approximately 45 minutes. Our hope was for students to leave the assembly not only entertained, but motivated to develop their personal skills in the area of positive choice making principles!! Kidzscience
