Dear Lovejoy Community:

As a reminder, all Lovejoy ISD offices will be closed until Monday, July 12. When we return in July, we will be fully focused on the 2010-2011 school year. We have already booked graduation at the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />AllenEventCenter for 10:00 am on June 4, 2011. We hope you will all join us for this celebration for the Class of 2011.

Lone Star Cup is Coming to Lovejoy

As you know, the U.I.L. presents one award in each classification to the high school who has earned the most points in athletic and academic competition during the school year. The unofficial final results were posted on the U.I.L. web site on June 18, 2010, and those results show LovejoyHigh School as the class 3A winner. The U.I.L. gives schools two weeks to contest these results and then they become final on July 1. LHS earned 89 points to win the award with ArgyleHigh School in second place with 82 points. We are very proud of our students and their coaches/directors for their level of success during the 2009-2010 school year.

Special Board Meeting

The LISD Board of Trustees will meet for a short called meeting at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 24, in the LISDAdministrationBuilding. The purpose of this meeting is to approve some new teacher contracts for the 2010-2011 school year. The meeting will be short and is open to the public.

Voting for our own

I told you last week about voting for Drew Carson and Kelsi Matthews in the prom photo contest. You can vote everyday until the contest ends and they got a spike in votes last week when Email Express went out. If you would like to go and vote for them (they are the ones in purple) again, here is the website http://bit.ly/95DTI4

More Student Honors

Our softball team brought home some more individual honors:

Cara Brazeal - Academic All-State Team (must be a graduating senior and have a GPA of 95 or higher)

Melissa  Schreck - DFW All-Area First Team Outfield (this encompasses 1A-5A)

Brittany Lewis - DFW All-Area Honorable Mention Hitter

Beth Johnson - DFW All-Area Honorable Mention Hitter

Ashley Prince (just completed sophomore year at Lovejoy High School) is 1 of 10 girls in the United States selected by the USA Beach Volleyball Association to participate in the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission’s Youth Beach Volleyball Exchange supported by US State Department though Sports United.
Sports United is an international sports programming initiative designed to help start a dialogue at the grassroots level with non-elite boys and girls ages 7-17. The programs aid youth in discovering how success in athletics can be translated into the development of life skills and achievement in the classroom. Foreign participants are given an opportunity to establish links with U.S. sports professionals and exposure to American life and culture. Americans learn about foreign cultures and the challenges young people from overseas face today.

I hope you are all having a great summer. I will be out of town for the next two weeks for my annual trip to South Padre Island. We began the tradition of going to SPI every summer once the first grandchild arrived. This summer our family will include 4 grandkids and I assure that this Papaw is looking forward to the next two weeks. I will check my email and cell phone daily so if you need something for school that cannot wait until July 12th, please let me hear from you. My cell number is 972-415-8129.

With Respect,

Ted Moore

Superintendent

Lovejoy ISD

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
