School is out and summer is in full swing. I vividly remember that wonderful feeling I used to get as a kid when I had the whole summer out ahead of me and no school to consider. I did note that on Monday morning when I got up to come to work the feeling was not exactly the same with the only visible sign for me that summer had taken over was that I did not wear a tie. Our summer work is centered on evaluating aspects of last year’s school experience and planning for next school year. We will hold summer hours, 7:30-5:30 on Monday-Thursday and be closed on Friday. Lovejoy High School will be open 9-4, M-F, as Mr. Goodrich reports he will be there everyday. The district will close for two weeks beginning June 28-July 12. The graduation ceremony last week was a very pleasing experience for the individual graduates as well as for this community. You made a decision in 2003 to build out a full K-12 program and on Saturday your dream was realized. Lovejoy ISD was founded in 1917 and now 93 years later we have a class of students who can legitimately come back next year to a homecoming. I had advertised that the ceremony would be web cast, but the event center staff had problems with their video encoder and was unable to broadcast. We will pick up a DVD copy of the ceremony and if the quality is good, we will make it available.style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">

Last week I bragged on the accomplishments of our students in print media. This week I would like to share the results from our broadcast students in their UIL competition. The Broadcast team received the Award of Distinguished Merit for LNN - Lovejoy News Network.
