Monday is August 2nd and we are moving into the home stretch until the beginning of school. Our teachers have completed the second week of Learning@Lovejoy and it was great to have almost everyone back this week at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />LovejoyHigh School.
Parent Survey
As I told you last week, it is time to grade the school district on the job we did with your kids last school year. Please follow this link and complete the survey which concludes with two open ended response questions where you can give us direct and honest feedback about those things you particularly like and/or those things that you would like for us to improve or stop doing. The survey will be open from today through Sunday, August 8th. Please take a few minutes to let us know what you think. Student Sculpture Selected for AP Poster
The Educational Testing Service selects exemplary artwork for each category for their Advanced Placement Art Poster. These posters are for every student enrolled in an AP Studio Art Course and are used by art instructors to show excellent examples of student work. Ben Karon’s sculpture was chosen for this honor; 15 were chosen out of almost 1,000,000 entries. When we get a digital image of his work, I will share it with you. Ben’s exemplary work is supported by a strong art program in our district headed by LHS instructors Jeff Seidel, Jaci Moore, and Brice McCasland.
Leopard Football Season Tickets
I have gotten calls on purchasing football season tickets for the 2010 season. Here is the scoop:
2010 Varsity Football Season Ticket SALES (August 28)
Saturday, August 28, 2010, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
at the Athletic Office in the LHSMultipurposeBuilding on the west side of the Leopard Stadium.
All remaining season tickets will be available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis.

Patrons that have already renewed their season tickets may pick them up beginning August 23rd
at the Athletic Office in the LHS Multipurpose Building on the west side of the Leopard Stadium.

Tue Aug 24 8:30 a.m - 4:00 p.m.
Wed Aug 25 8:30 a.m - 4:00 p.m.
Thu Aug 26 8:30 a.m - 8:00 p.m. (late night pick-up session)

Saturday, August 28, 2010, 8:30 am - 10:30 am
Patrons that have already renewed their season tickets may attend Trade Day on August 28th
at the Athletic Office in the LHS Multipurpose Building on the west side of the Leopard Stadium
if you wish to exchange your current tickets for a new ticket location based on what is available.

Get a Jump on Volunteering on our LISD Campuses
As you know for the safety and security on all campuses, our volunteer corps must complete a volunteer form which includes a criminal record check. In order to get the ball rolling to be approved as a volunteer, please follow these steps:

Purple Cow Fund-Raising Benefiting Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure
Purple Cow will be hosting a fundraising night for Team Hope Chest, a team partly made up of several teachers from the district. Please join Rebecca May, Courtney Claborn, Shannon Price and their team at the Purple Cow in Fairview on Tuesday, August 3rd anytime between 4:30-close. The team will receive 15% of all profits from customers who mention they've come to support Team Hope Chest. All money made will go toward their collective goal of $11,500 to be given to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
