Hart Families and Friends,

Children's Book Week a Big Hit!

Today we have lots of kiddos dressed up as their favorite book characters throughout the building in honor of Children's Book Week. I have seen students dressed as Pinkalicious, Junie B Jones, Buzz Light Year, Woody, Laura Ingalls, Harry Potter, Thing I and Thing II, Fancy Nancy, and much, much more. Even our teachers have dressed up like characters from The Wizard of OZ, The Three Little Pigs, The Grouchy Ladybug, Chicken Little, Ruby the Copycat, Charlotte's Web and Caps for Sale! Be sure to join us for our Parade of Characters at 2:15 today and a Special Hart Beat in honor of Children's Book Week! We have a new cheer and dance that will be featured for the first time today and you do not want to miss it!

Family Fun Night

Mark your calendar's for Hart Family Fun Night on Monday, May 24th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hart. We will have free food, music, games, bounce houses and lots of good times for everyone. We have also had many requests to purchase the pictures of students that we have hanging around the building this year. As a result,  we have decided to hold a silent auction for the pictures from 6:30-7:30 during Family Fun Night.

The money raised will be used to purchase new pictures for next year. The students truly have enjoyed having the pictures in the building and I love that they serve as  a great reminder of the reason why we are here! So if you want a chance to take home one of the pictures, be sure to be here between 6:30 and 7:30. We will not collect money on the 24th, but will do so at a later time.

Today was a lot of fun during morning drop off seeing the kids get out of their cars in costume. I think my favorite line of the day came from a kindergarten student as I passed her in the hall. She said, "Mrs. Foster, you're a pig!" I decided not to take it personally because I was wearing a tail, pig ears and a pig nose, so the comment made sense! Luckily the pig costume pieces are all detachable so that when I head to the ball fields tonight I will not be setting myself up for any additional comments!

Seriously though, Mrs. Larriviere and Mrs. Parrott have made Children's Book Week a wonderful week of fun for the kids and staff. What a great way to celebrate reading, books and learning! I am looking forward to this afternoon's Parade of Characters and Hart Beat! I hope to see many of you there!

Have a great weekend,

Kathy :)

Lovejoy Country Run

On-line registration is closed for the 4th annual Lovejoy Country Run and Pancake Breakfast, but you can still go to the Luke's Locker store at 959 Garden Park Drive in Allen until 6 pm Friday. Or register at the race at LHS at 7 a.m. Saturday. Skip the line on race day and pick up your Lovejoy Country Run race packet at Luke’s Locker in Allen through 6 p.m. Friday.

Saturday's 1K FUN RUN begins at 8 a.m. sharp, and the 5K race begins at 8:30 a.m. Races will be held rain or shine.

If you don't want to race, you can come eat pancakes and sausage.  Pancake breakfast tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and children under age 5 eat free.  Enjoy the live music of “Beat Red,” while kids enjoy bounce houses and face painting by Karen Karnuta.  Festivities are from 8-11 a.m.

Race brochures are available at all LISD school offices. The event is organized by Lovejoy Leopards, Inc., and proceeds equally benefit all 13 Lovejoy athletic booster clubs. This event, chaired by Selena Milstead, is an awesome example of cooperation between the 13 booster clubs and their representatives. Come join us in our fourth year. I just wanted to remind everyone that this Monday, May 17th will be our last chess club meeting of the year.  I've also attached the flyer for the upcoming LISD chess tournament.  You can bring your payment on Monday or bring it buy the red building anytime after next week.  Thanks for sharing your children with us!

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
