Howdy from Hart,
I hope this message finds everyone staying cool in the heat and enjoying the last days of summer. Here at Hart we are gearing up for another great start for the 2010-2011 school year and can't wait to see all of our kiddos and their families.
Included below are upcoming dates for you to mark on your calendar in reference to Meet the Teacher, Curriculum Nights, 5th grade camp and Picture Day. Hopefully the information helps with planning around busy schedules.
Today we are hosting a Howdy Party for our new students to Hart in grades 1-5. Mrs. McCormick has a great time planned for all, and we are geared up to have some Hee Haw Fun! Later today, at 5:00 PM, class lists will be posted on the Hart website as well as on the front windows of the school! I know the kiddos are excited to find out who their teachers will be for the new school year.
Next week our staff officially returns to work, although many of the teachers have already been working in their rooms and preparing for the upcoming year! Our office staff will be available to take your calls if you need assistance. Please note that the office will be closed on Monday, August 16th, until 1:00 PM so that all LISD can attend our Convocation kick off for the new year.
Attached you will find a couple quick reference items that went home in our back to school mailer. Just in case the paper disappeared, the dog ate it or it was accidently thrown away, you now have another copy! I am sure that this only happens in my house!
With a week left of summer break, I encourage you to start getting into the school routine. It is always hard making the transition back to school bedtimes and wake up times when you have been on summer time! Believe me I know! Out of our three boys, only one is an early bird. The other two boys are not so eager to get back into the school routine. :)

Parent Portal
Lovejoy ISD Parent Portal gives parents and students access to real-time information including attendance, grades, and detailed assignment descriptions. PowerSchool now provides single sign-on access to the Lovejoy Parent Portal. With single sign-on access parents/guardians can now have their own individual parent/guardian account, including user name and password. To access Parent Portal please follow the instructions on the Parent Portal attachment.
Microsoft 2007 to be installed on all computers at Hart
Our campus software programs are being updated and improved at Hart. One major change our staff and students will see is the transition to Microsoft Office 2007.
We would like to provide you with a tool that will help with this transition. Below is a link to a Free Compatibility Pack update offered from Microsoft. This compatibility pack will allow you to view files that were created in Microsoft Office 2007 on a system that may be running a previous version. For example, if you have Microsoft 2003 on your home computer, this compatibility pack will all your son or daughter to access files at school in Microsoft 2007 and at home in Microsoft 2003. We encourage you to take the time to install this free update to help alleviate any problems that may arise between systems (school and home) running separate versions of Microsoft Office.
To install the update, follow the link below. Read the simple directions provided from Microsoft and click on the Download button. When the pop up appears, select “Run."
