Howdy from Hart,

It was great seeing everyone at Meet the Teacher Night! I am always amazed at how much the kids have grown over the summer break. Many of our Hart friends showed off their toothless grins from losing teeth over the summer. Others smiled to show off the new teeth that came in over the summer.  Students talked about trips to the beach, Disney World, trips to visit family, trips to water parks and much more. What wonderful stories our students will have to share with each other and their teachers when they come back to school next week.

If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, we look forward to seeing you on Monday. Class lists are posted next to each classroom door if you need assistance, or feel free to stop by the office. Please make sure you let your child's teacher know how he/she will be going home the first day of school. If your child is going home a different way than usual on the first day, be sure to let the teacher know how he/she will be going home on a regular basis.

I am going to thank everyone ahead of time for your patience during the first week of morning drop off and afternoon pick up. We have a fabulous system, but it takes a little extra time to work through the process the first week of school. We have plenty of staff on hand to assist our students and we will make sure they get to where they need to be, it just takes extra time during the first week. :)

Be sure to call ahead of time if you change plans for pick up in the afternoon, The office will be sure to get the message to the classroom teachers. The office number is 469.742.8200.

Our doors open at 7:30 AM and we are excited to have our kiddos back in the building on Monday morning. Teachers will be here to welcome you and assist with your questions. We will all be wearing black shirts with red hearts, so you will be able to know who we are!

All parents are invited to join our PTA in the Library at 8:05 AM for Tears and Cheers. Whether you are celebrating or shedding a few tears after dropping your child off, we will be here for you!

This year the Foster Family will experience 3 boys in three different schools. Our oldest begins high school, our middle son if off to middle school and the youngest is heading to third grade! The boys are geared up for the new school year and I am sure there will be new stories to share from their experiences! We have already had our first Care Now visit from football, so hopefully they will remain injury free for a while! :)

As you send your kiddos to school next week, please know that we are here to welcome them with open arms, support them with love and kindness, challenge and engage them in meaningful ways and partner with you to ensure their success.

Looking forward to a wonderful school year,
Kathy :)

Positive Proof System Installed
Hart Elementary has updated our visitor sign-in system.  The updated system is called Positive Proof Intercept.  Positive Proof is the same system we have used in the past to track visitors, students, volunteers, and staff but now the system requires the use of a state-issued ID.  Positive Proof Intercept enhances school security by reading visitor drivers' licenses, comparing information to a sex offender database, alerting campus administrators if a match is found, then (assuming no match was made) printing a visitor badge that includes a photo.  The system was piloted at Lovejoy High School this past school year and over the summer all campuses have been updated.  The overall goal of this system is to increase the safety of our schools.

Microsoft 2007 to be installed on all computers at Hart

Our campus software programs are being updated and improved at Hart.  One major change our staff and students will see is the transition to Microsoft Office 2007.

We would like to provide you with a tool that will help with this transition.   Below is a link to a Free Compatibility Pack update offered from Microsoft.  This compatibility pack will allow you to view files that were created in Microsoft Office 2007 on a system that may be running a previous version.  For example, if you have Microsoft 2003 on your home computer, this compatibility pack will all your son or daughter to access files at school in Microsoft 2007 and at home in Microsoft 2003.  We encourage you to take the time to install this free update to help alleviate any problems that may arise between systems (school and home) running separate versions of Microsoft Office.

To install the update, follow the link below.  Read the simple directions provided from Microsoft and click on the Download button.  When the pop up appears, select “Run."

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
