Howdy from Hart,
Hart Beat Fun!
The first week of school was a huge success and today we topped it off with our first Hart Beat Assembly of the year! We featured a few new twists to our celebration and they were a big hit! Hart Beat started off with scrolling pictures of our kids from the first week of school. The kiddos love seeing themselves on the big screen! Our goal is to feature pictures of our kids as they participate in learning activities between each scheduled Hart Beat.
Another new feature is that each time a child receives Leopard of the Week, not only will the student's name appear on the screen, but it will be accompanied by a picture! Like I said before, the kids love to seeing themselves on the big screen in the cafeteria!
We are featuring a special twist for our teachers and have modified the Teacher of the Week to the Team of the Week. During Hart Beat, we will honor a team of teachers during and they will be able to draw from 3 envelopes a special prize. The kids provide a drum roll sound for special effects!
Our final new feature has to do with our Special's Award. Each week a grade level is recognized for outstanding work and participation in Specials. We have always had this award, and the winner is able to select the dance for the next week. What we have done is gotten a little more creative with the actual award... it is now called the Golden Shoe Award! Thanks to shoes that were donated by our own Emily Orr, we have a pair of tennis shoes that are painted gold and have red, black and white streamers attached. The shoes and streamers are all attached to a golden pole that can be carried to each Hart Beat by the winning grade level. I know this sounds silly, but it was a HUGE hit! I will send a picture with my next email so you have a visual! :)

Positive Proof System Installed
Hart Elementary has updated our visitor sign-in system. The updated system is called Positive Proof Intercept. Positive Proof is the same system we have used in the past to track visitors, students, volunteers, and staff but now the system requires the use of a state-issued ID. Positive Proof Intercept enhances school security by reading visitor drivers' licenses, comparing information to a sex offender database, alerting campus administrators if a match is found, then (assuming no match was made) printing a visitor badge that includes a photo. The system was piloted at Lovejoy High School this past school year and over the summer all campuses have been updated. The overall goal of this system is to increase the safety of our schools.
Microsoft 2007 to be installed on all computers at Hart
Our campus software programs are being updated and improved at Hart. One major change our staff and students will see is the transition to Microsoft Office 2007.
We would like to provide you with a tool that will help with this transition. Below is a link to a Free Compatibility Pack update offered from Microsoft. This compatibility pack will allow you to view files that were created in Microsoft Office 2007 on a system that may be running a previous version. For example, if you have Microsoft 2003 on your home computer, this compatibility pack will all your son or daughter to access files at school in Microsoft 2007 and at home in Microsoft 2003. We encourage you to take the time to install this free update to help alleviate any problems that may arise between systems (school and home) running separate versions of Microsoft Office.
To install the update, follow the link below. Read the simple directions provided from Microsoft and click on the Download button. When the pop up appears, select “Run."
