Good afternoon! We have just completed our 2nd week of Learning at Lovejoy and it was great to have all the awesome Puster teachers together again after the summer break! We are excited about the upcoming year and everyone is working hard to get ready for August 23!
Please watch your mail next week for the summer mailer. It includes start of school information from Puster and the Puster PTA. Your car tag will be included in the mailer. Please keep the car tag for use during carpool pick-up.
Purple Cow Fund-Raising Night Benefitting Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure?
Purple Cow will be hosting a fundraising night for Team Hope Chest, a team partly made up of several teachers from the district. Please join Rebecca May, Courtney Claborn, Shannon Price and their team at the Purple Cow in Fairview on Tuesday, August 3rd anytime between 4:30-close. The team will receive 15% of all profits from customers who mention they've come to support Team Hope Chest. All money made will go toward their collective goal of $11,500 to be given to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Staff Changes
Over the summer, we had a few changes in staff at Puster. We are excited about our new additions and know they will help us support our mission of providing a quality education to each child!
Wendy Craft is our new assistant principal. Wendy was the GT Math teacher at Puster last year and we are excited that she is joining the administration team. Wendy has classroom teaching experience, as well as experience as a math instructional specialist, and GT teacher.
Angie Clark is our new 5th grade LA/SS teacher. She is replacing Sandra Cole who resigned for family reasons. We are excited about having Angie on our 5th grade team. She has taught elementary as well as middle school English. Most recently she has served as a literacy coach for grades PK-5 in NE ISD in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />San Antonio.
Donna Lusby is our new GT Math teacher for grades 3-5. Donna brings a wealth of experience, including teaching math at elementary and middle school, serving as a technology integrator and as assistant principal in Wylie and at Lovejoy Elementary several years ago. We are glad that Donna has come home to Lovejoy ISD and especially to Puster!
Leslie Dowden has accepted the position as the district 3rd grade GT LA/SS teacher and will serve all three campuses. We are busy interviewing candidates to find a quality teacher to replace her.
Janet Abramson is our new nurse. She brings to us many years of experience in pediatrics, including hospital and pediatrician office experience. She will be a great fit for Puster and we are pleased that she will be part of our staff.
Parent Portal – IMPORTANT
Lovejoy ISD Parent Portal gives parents and students access to real-time information including attendance, grades, and detailed assignment descriptions. PowerSchool now provides single sign-on access to the Lovejoy Parent Portal. With single sign-on access parents/guardians can now have their own individual parent/guardian account, including user name and password.
Please note the individual student account login information that you have used in the past will no longer work to login to the Parent Portal.
In order to login to the Parent Portal, you must follow these steps:
1. Open your Web browser to http://powerschool.lovejoyisd.net/. The Log In page appears.
2. Click Create Account. The Create Parent/Guardian Account page appears.
3. Enter the required information in the Create Parent/Guardian Account section.
In order to create an account, you must have the Access ID (firstname_lastname) and Password (first initial of the first name and first initial of the last name followed by the last four (4) digits of the student’s social security number) for at least one student enrolled in school. When creating the account, you will need the Access ID and password for each student you want to associate to your parent/guardian account. For example:
Student: John Doe
Social Security Number: XXX-XX-1234
Access ID = John_Doe (be sure to capitalize the first letter of the first and last name)
Password = JD1234 (be sure to capitalize both initials)
4. Use the student’s Access ID and Password in the Link Students to Account section.

Once your account is created, you can manage your account information, link any and all students to your account (for whom you have parental and legal rights to), and set email and notifications preferences for each student linked to your account. If you've forgotten your account login information, you can retrieve them by using auto-recovery.
