June 4, 2010

The halls are quiet and the students have gone home for the summer. We ended our 2nd year with Puster Pride this morning and the students then had the opportunity to spend time with next’s year’s grade level teachers.

It seems like yesterday that we began our 2009-10 school year. It has been fun watching the students learn and grow. Our fifth grade parents watched their children today take their final walk through the halls of Puster. Many parents had tears in their eyes that reflected happiness, pride, joy, and maybe some sadness as their fifth grader leaves Puster to join SCMS next fall.

Watching our children grow and mature can be bittersweet. It is sometimes sad to see them leave their childhood, but they are blessings to us as adults as well. As a parent, I have watched my daughter this year as she has developed and grown as a first year teacher. It has truly been a blessing to listen and guide her as she has strived to do what is best for each child. Listening to her excitement as she tells stories of student success has made my heart smile many times this year. She has a giving heart and I know she will touch the lives of children in a positive way for many years to come. And to think it just seems like yesterday that she was leaving elementary school herself!

So for those who were sad today, take heart. Your child has a bright future ahead of him/her and will have many opportunities to give back to the world and make a positive impact. I know our fifth graders have developed skills and character to prepare them for middle school and beyond. I know they will be successful and make you proud!

I loved all my hugs today as students left for the summer. I already miss the students and am looking forward to August and their return. I know the 2010-11 school year will be even better than this year! Thank you for sharing your children with us. Enjoy the summer, have fun, and we’ll see you in August!

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
