Puster Principal Message<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

May 14, 2010

Good afternoon!   It was wonderful yesterday to have all of our first grade mothers here for the Mother’s Day Tea!  The students did a wonderful job presenting and the videos they created about their moms were priceless.  Thank you to all our moms for taking time out of your busy schedules to share in the activity with your children.  It was obvious on the children’s faces how much they love you!

This afternoon we enjoyed an “Earth Day Fashion Show” presented by our fifth graders.  We saw many very creative designs and enjoyed viewing the wearable art the students created!  Many thanks to our art teacher, Jenny Slaver, for her efforts in coordinating the project with our fifth grade students!

PUSTER ELEMENTARY NEWS

Bus Transportation

It is a busy time of year and we have many students wanting to ride the bus home with friends.  As you make plans for your children, please remember our district guidelines:

  • A child may only get off at his/her own stop unless we have a written note from the parent for the bus driver.  This applies to students on their assigned bus route only.

  • Children may not ride home on a different bus without parents first calling the transportation department @ 469-742-8009 and talking with Donna Hamblin.  We cannot guarantee there is space on a bus for all assigned children when students switch buses.  If there is an emergency situation, Donna Hamblin can approve the change.  We must know at all times which students are  being transported on each bus.

These guidelines are meant to keep your child safe and to make sure we can account for each child in case of an emergency.  We appreciate your help!

Dress Code

As weather is warming up and students are beginning to dress in shorts, please help us remind the children to be mindful of the dress code.  The student handbook states:

Short shorts, skirts (must be of moderate mid-thigh length and appropriate for stairs and sitting).

We appreciate your help in monitoring your child’s dress before they come to school.

Puster Basketball Game

The Puster Basketball Game originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 25 has been changed to Monday, May 24 @ 1:30 because of the change with the 5th grade end of year party.

Parent Request Forms

Be sure to check your child’s Thursday Folder for teacher requests for the 2010 – 2011 school year.  All requests are due back Thursday, May 20, 2010.

Cafeteria News

May 17 is the last day that students will be able to charge lunches.  If students owe any money after this day, they will get an alternate meal which includes a cheese sandwich. The last week of school, May 31 – June 4 is Campus Selection so lunch menus will vary.  Sack lunches will be served on May 28, Field Day and June 4, Early Release.
