May 28, 2010
WOW! We had an absolutely amazing field day today! A huge “thank you” goes out to Coach Bettley for his hard work in preparing for the day. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped to make this day a success. We could not have done it without you! Even in the heat you all had smiles on your faces! Every child I talked to told me they had a wonderful day and I know they are exhausted and will sleep well tonight! One parent sent an e-mail stating “Today's Puster Field Day was the all-time BEST field day I've ever participated in.” Thanks again to Kent and the volunteers for making it possible!
Next week we will have our last four days of the 2009-10 school year. It will be hard to say goodbye for the summer and it will be especially hard for us to say goodbye to our fifth graders. Please join us on Friday, June 4 at 11:45 as our fifth graders walk the halls for the last time to say goodbye!
Enjoy the holiday weekend!
PUSTER ELEMENTARY NEWS
Early Release and School <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Holiday
A reminder that Monday, May 31st is a school holiday. We hope you have big plans with your family. Also, Friday, June 4th, we do have a 12:00 release for all elementary students.
Library Books Need to be Returned
Parents please help your students look for library books at home. The students who still have books out received a paper telling them what is missing. We are still missing over 200 books. Your help in this matter is very much appreciated!!
From the Counselor...
May has been a month full of good citizenship activities. First, three students donated ponytails to the Pink Heart Fund last week. This organization makes wigs to give to children who have lost hair due to chemotherapy. Second, our Friendship Club has made over 100 friendship bracelets to send to the students at Santa Marta Elementary in Costa Rica. Third, we are still collecting binder dividers to donate to the Collin County Children's AdvocacyCenter for their Back To School Fair. Currently, we have 88 dividers! Our goal is 100, so it's not too late to send a set of dividers with your child to school next week. Fourth, the third graders collected over $250 and donated goods for the SPCA! My hope is that Puster's good citizenship continues through the summer and becomes a way of life for all of us. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
Summer Music Fun
Please read the attachment to read about some fun Music activities for your students this summer.
TAKS Reports
If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, be sure and check your child’s folder for a Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (the TAKS) report. The report and an explanation sheet, are in a white envelope. Please do not hesitate to call me at (469)742-8226 or Mr. Parker at 469-742-8227 if you have questions or concerns about your child’s results.
From The Nurse
If your child has medicine at school, please make sure your child has exactly enough medicine to finish the school year. You are responsible for picking up any extra medicine as the school has a policy against sending medicines with students.
At the end of this school year, any remaining medicines, including inhalers, that have not been picked up will be thrown out. The school cannot store these for you during the summer.
Please remember, if your child is going to have medication at school during the 2010-2011 school year, you will need to have a new medication sheet filled out.
