Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am sad to say that our school year is coming to an end. Last week, we had our year-end student recognition programs.  It was great to hear all of the positive remarks from the teachers toward their students. The end of the school year is always a bittersweet time. While everyone is thankful and reflective of the past year, they are also ready to get out of school and enjoy a well-deserved break.

I hope that your sons and daughters had a great school year.  We strive to make their time at Sloan Creak a quality experience. Our intention is to provide for the needs of each student so that they can reach their potential. I hope that in some way we have impacted the life of your student(s) in a positive way.

Please read the important Sloan Creek News and Information below.  There are reminders about wrapping things up for the end of the year (spring pictures, lost & found, picking up medicine from the clinic, and returning textbooks, etc).  If there is anything we can do for you and your family this last week of school, please let us know.

Have a great week,

Gavan

Important Sloan Creek News and Information

School Pictures

Students should have received a Spring Picture Packet during their Math class.

Please choose one of the following 2 options:

  • if you'd like to purchase the pictures, return payment made out to LifeTouch to the front desk

  • if you are not interested in purchasing them, return the picture packet to the front desk

The deadline for this is Wednesday, June 2nd.

Important Message from the School Nurse

Parents are responsible for picking up any extra medicine since the school has a policy against sending medicines with students.  At the end of this school year, any remaining medicines, including inhalers, will be thrown out.  The school cannot store these during the summer.

Please remember, if your child is going to continue being medicated at school during the 2010/2011 school year, you will need to have a new medication sheet filled out.

Lost and Found

We have accumulated quite a few items in the Lost & Found. Please encourage your student to check for lost items - everything is on display in the cafeteria. All items that are not claimed by Friday will be donated to Allen Community Outreach.

School Store

Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 2nd) during lunch is the last day to buy 9th Grade Summer Reading books from the school store. The two books are Jurassic Park & October Sky. Each book is $8.00. Don't forget... everything else is 20% off!

Textbook Return continues...

Students should continue to bring their set of home textbooks. Contact will be made for those students who still have outstanding textbooks.

Morning Drop-Off

Now that early morning athletics has shifted to off-season work outs, we have a lot more traffic around 7:45- 8:00 a.m. Please be patient as you enter the north entrance.

It is advised that parents drop off students in the back of the school, near the court yard. This will allow more room for cars to enter into the Sloan Creek driveway.  Avoid dropping off near the locker room entrance as well as making U-turns. Please drop-off at the back of the school and proceed around to the southern exit. Thanks for your help the last two and a half weeks of school.

SCMS Cafeteria

Students with a negative balance in their lunch account will no longer be able to charge to their account (they will be offered an alternate meal).
