Children are crazy about bugz! Bugz are crazy about picnics! The Second-grade musical “Bugz”under the direction of Debbie Noble was a big hit last week at Hart. The cast was made up entirely of bugs and other creatures such as worms, caterpillars and so on. In the musical all of the bugs have heard about a picnic to which they just assume they have been invited. They are all busy getting ready for the event. The Lady Bugs are in charge of proper etiquette with Be a Lady. The March of the Army Ants in their military fatigues provide the security. The fireflies are there to light the way. Yellow Jacket, Gypsy Moth, Flipping Beetle, Grub Worms, Horsefly, Dragonflies, Boll Weevil, Honeybees/Bumblebees and the Maggot provide the entertainment. Everyone is trying to figure out how to tell the Stink Bug that he is not really welcome because he will spoil the tasty event. He starts feeling very sad. The beautiful butterflies sing an encouraging song to the Stink Bug who is feeling terrible, about how things change. Finally, the Praying Mantis saves the day by coming up with the brilliant idea of having some friends hand
everyone something sweet to smell that will mask the odor of the Stink Bug. In that way he can enjoy the picnic and not spoil it for everyone else.
