First grade students at Hart recently discovered that there are indeed baby chicks inside their eggs.  Beth Jacobsen visited the first grade classrooms to show us how to “candle” the eggs.  This involved having a special light that was held up to the eggs so that students could see inside.  The eggs were then sorted into three categories.  “Winners” were the eggs where an embryo could be seen.  “Quitters” and “Yolkers” were the other possibilities.  We obviously were excited when we saw lots of “Winners”!  We are soon to be the proud caretakers of lots of baby chicks!
