imageEach kindergarten classroom at Hart Elementary has added i-pods to their Listening Center.  Not only can the kids listen to a book by an author, but they also have fun listening to themselves read books as well!  The kindergartners practice their level books all week and then record themselves reading a book to the i-pod.  Two skills that they work on all year are to read with fluency and expression.  The i-pods have become a great tool to improve both of these skills because the students are able to hear what their reading sounds like.  Another way that we use the i-pods is to record a Reader's Theater performance.  A Reader's Theater is a script written from a children's book that is familiar to the class.  The class practices the script and then records the Reader's Theater to the i-pod.  They love to listen to each other say their lines!

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
