During the month of November, Hart Student Council members sold “I am thankful for you because---“ cards to students and staff and other members of the community.  Those who purchased the cards had the opportunity to write why they were thankful for someone and return to the card to Student Council who, in turn, delivered the cards to the recipients on the day before Thanksgiving break.  Through the sale of the cards, the students raised $834.00.

This semester, the Hart Student Council provided guidance in the idea of serving our community locally. (Next semester, the goal is to serve globally).  With that goal is mind, the council chose to spend the money raised on helping children for the holidays through Allen Community Outreach.  Fifth grade council members took time from their busy weekend to spend the $834 dollars buying clothes and toys for seven children!

The clothes and toys were displayed in Mrs. McCormick’s office before they were delivered to ACO so the staff and students could see how their giving made a difference for seven needy children.
