Well-known children’s author Helen Ketteman visited Lovejoy Elementary School on February 4 to entertain us with her stories and share information about the writing process.  Mrs. Ketteman has written 20 books including Bubba the Cowboy Prince, Armadilly Chili and The Three Little Gators. All of our students from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade enjoyed listening to her storytelling and learning about her methods as a writer.  Did you know that one of her books took 4 years to complete and went through 76 revisions?  Writing takes patience, hard work and a stubborn resolve to see it through.  We were so pleased that Mrs. Ketteman was able to visit our school and share her delightful books with us.  Thank you to the Lovejoy Elementary PTA and Mrs. Barajas for your generous support and help with making this visit possible.

Lovejoy Elementary fifth graders recently enjoyed exploring changes to the land during a hands-on lab activity.  Students built up land masses made of clay and placed gravel sporadically on the land.  Once built, they used wind from a straw and water from a spray bottle to see how these agents are part of the weathering and erosion process.  What an exciting way to learn about science!

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
