Hart fifth grader, Sarah Wallaert, was saddened when her pet guinea pig, Michelle passed away. When her mother said that she could get a new guinea pig, they turned to the Texas Rustler Guinea Pig Rescue organization to help to find a new pet. When Sarah was there, she learned about the organization. She met Ms. Julia and discovered that all of the expenses of the organization are covered by the members. That’s when Sarah became inspired to do something to help the guinea pigs that did not have a home. Along with Carol Immel, Sarah developed an idea to create bottle cap necklaces and sell them to raise money for this organization. On Friday, February 26th, Sarah sold these necklaces at Hart. From this sale, Sarah raised over $350 to donate to Texas Rustler Guinea Pig Rescue. Sarah has a true heart of service!

Puster Students and Coins for Costa Rica PDF Print E-mail

February was a special month at Puster Elementary. After reading Greg Mortenson’s Listen to the Wind and how he built schools in Pakistan, we learned that Santa Marta Elementary in Costa Rica needed help with basic school supplies, plumbing, and other educational needs. We realized we had a perfect opportunity to help make a difference in this world, just like Greg Mortenson! We started collecting coins – Caring Coins for Costa Rica. Students brought money from piggy banks, allowances, lemonade stand profits, even lost change under sofas and car mats! Penny by penny, dollar by dollar, our container filled. With help from private donations and Puster’s Student Council, our total reached $3,416.83!

Puster Pride on February 26th was a special day. Thanks to Skype, the student body was able to say hello and present our caring coins. We have helped Santa Marta Elementary, and they have helped us learn about fairness and sharing.

Puster and Santa Marta – the beginning of a wonderful friendship!

Come out and cheer on your 5th/6th grade Leopard Lacrosse team this Saturday.  We are hosting our first home game vs. Flower Mound @ 11 a.m. @ SCMS’s lacrosse field (formally the football field!)

Max Bevan, our assistant coach, will be making his head coaching debut!  Our team is off to a great start with 2 wins and only one loss.

If you’ve never seen a lacrosse game, this is a great opportunity to see what all the excitement is about and why lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America!

*in the event of heavy rains the night before or day of, the game will be canceled.

On November 5th, 2010, Mrs. Price, Mrs. Claborn, Mrs. Gerber and I will begin an incredible journey! My three great friends and I will be walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™. We will walk 60 miles in three days, camp out under the stars with our teammates and other teams taking this journey, and form bonds that will never be broken. We have named our team Hope Chest. We would LOVE to reach far beyond our goal of $2,300 a person. Sadly, we've probably all been affected by this disease in some way. If walking 60 miles means our children might never have to fight this disease, it’s worth every mile!

If you would like to donate to our team or just keep track of our progress, please click on the link below. Thanks so much for your support!! Net proceeds from the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ are invested in breast cancer research and community programs.

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
