It is necessary to change the time of our kindergarten program from 1:30 to 10:00 due to Friday’s early dismissal. The performance will be in the Lovejoy Elementary Gym.
New Ice Cream Vendor
We do have a new ice cream vendor and have replaced the ice cream machines in the cafeteria. Kelment Ice Cream Vendor is on call around the clock so hopefully, we won’t have problems having machines repaired if necessary. There are more ice cream selections with most costing only $1. There is one choice costing $2.
Jet the Leopard
Lovejoy ISD adopted Jett in January 2007, and he is Lovejoy’s live mascot. Jett lives in the In Sync Exotic Ranch in Wylie, Texas at a wildlife rescue and educational center. For the next couple of weeks, the Lovejoy High School PAS organization will be selling pencils and necklaces. (see attachment)

Lost and Found Items
Brrrr…it’s been awfully chilly these last few mornings. We are finding more jackets about the building and on the playground with the warmer afternoons. Be sure to write the first and last name of your child/children in jackets. We want to be sure all lost items are returned to their owner with even colder weather approaching.
Nothing predicted any time soon, but for future inclement weather:
The Lovejoy ISD may close schools because of bad weather or emergency conditions. When such conditions exist, the Superintendent will make the official decision to close or delay school. Lovejoy ISD officials will notify the following:
- TV stations KDFW - 4, KXAS - 5, WFAA - 8, KTVT - 11
- Radio stations WBAP 820, KRLD 1080
Lovejoy ISD Email Express subscribers will receive personal notification through email and an announcement will be placed on the district website.
Operation Kare-n For Cancer
With the holidays quickly approaching, the staff at Lovejoy Elementary was searching for ways to give back to the community. We chose a “project from the heart”, Kare-n for Cancer, “Decking the Halls with Hope”. Karen Shackelford, an Allen, Texas resident, is a breast cancer survivor and the mastermind behind this project. The idea for Kare-n for Cancer (providing a decorated tree for a cancer patient) came out of her own extraordinary experience with stage 3 cancer. Each grade level will provide a tree, the lights and ornaments, extension cord, tree skirt, and topper for a cancer patient.
If you haven’t heard about this in your child’s newsletter, you will.
Themes for trees are:
Kindergarten – The Gingerbread Man
First – Around the World
Second – Angels
Third – Snowmen
Fourth – Texas
Fifth – Snowflakes
Office and Academic Support Staff (GT, Special Education, Dyslexia, Library, Specials)- Shades of red
If you or your child would be interested in sending loose change for a tree and any of the items listed above, please do so before December 3rd. All items are due on December 4th, the Friday we return from the fall break. Thanks in advance for your support! (see attached)
