Lovejoy High School Parents and Friends,
JUST A REMINDER ABOUT TONIGHT'S COLLEGE FAIR-
September 14- (6:00 PM- 8:00 PM) College Night: Cafeteria and Commons area (Over 50 Colleges on campus)
Encourage your student to dress up and impress.
Questions to think about prior to attending College Night
- Do you know what you want to study in college?
- Do you have a specific college in mind? If so, what information can they share that will help you in the application process? What are their admission requirements? What scores do they require for admission? What testing do they require?
- Do you have a specific region of the United States in mind?
- What fits your personality best: a small school with smaller classes or a large school with larger classes? What questions can you ask to find out about the class sizes?
- What are the admissions application dates for the schools? When should you take the SAT/ ACT in order to apply? Do they look at all your test scores and combine the highest sections?
- What is student life like at that school? What kind of extra-curricular activities take place on campus? How do they get students involved and what are the unique opportunities at that school?
- Does money determine where you will attend? Will you be seeking scholarships when you go to college? If so, what are the requirements for scholarships? What do you need to do to get a scholarship? How many years are these scholarships offered? Are there specific forms required?
v What can you not find on the college’s website?
Questions to ask the College Admissions reps
- What are the most important criteria in your admissions process: grades (GPA), class rank, extracurricular activities, high school curriculum, course selection, SAT/ACT scores, others?
- Do you have a prospective student day/ weekend visit?
- Will your school accept Advanced Placement courses?
- What is your school website?
- What is the best way to get on your mailing list?
