Our Student Council sponsored our “Line a Hall to Stack a Shelf” canned food drive for the Allen Community Outreach. We collected over 800 canned food items. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our food drive. We enjoyed a video this morning on announcements that featured students and staff telling us what they are thankful for. Students were thankful for parents and family, pets, their homes, food, and much more. It is a wonderful time to pause and remember all that we are thankful for. I am thankful for my family and for each child, parent, and staff member at Puster. This is a great place to be and I am very thankful that I am fortunate enough to be part of this wonderful district and Puster Elementary. Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving. PUSTER ELEMENTARY NEWS Change in Cafeteria Menu Parents, for various reasons we have made a slight change to the annual menu calendar, and will not be serving soup on Mondays." Congratulations to our Turkey Tournament Chess Winners! The Turkey Tournament was held on November 14 at SCMS. Puster Elementary won the 3rd Place TEAM TROPHY out of 14 teams! The following students were individual winners from Puster Elementary! Austin Keefer received 2nd Place in the Primary K-3rd Grade, U500 Section and Fayyaz Shaikh received 1st Place in the “Not-to-be Rated” Section. Congratulations to all our students who participated! From the Counselor It was great to see so many of you on Wednesday for our Thanksgiving luncheon - what a great way to start this holiday season! Another great way to celebrate the third six weeks at Puster is to focus on the character trait CARING. We will discuss kindness, compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, and helping others. I know there will be many opportunities here and at home to share and show these qualities of caring. I challenged your child to contact a family member or friend who will not be with you at Thanksgiving, and tell that person he/she is loved and missed. Have a restful and rejuvenating week with family and friends! Kare-n for Cancer Hello Puster Family, We at Puster Elementary want to do something for this worthwhile cause. For those of you who are not familiar with Kare-n for Cancer, there is an attachment with more details. Lovejoy Fine Arts Festival The first Lovejoy Fine Arts Festival will start at noon on Saturday Dec. 12 at Lovejoy High School. Admission is free. The festival will showcase the artistic talents of Lovejoy ISD students in the fine arts departments. Set aside some time on your busy calendars to attend. Come and go as you please. Three stages will host various performances by Lovejoy fine arts students in grades 5-12. Just a sampling of performers are: elementary schools' honor choirs, middle school pop choir, LHS choir, LHS jazz band, The Majestics Dance Team, studio dance classes, orchestra, theater, guitar club performers, ensembles, and student bands. Community art booths, art student booths, and holiday food vendors will also be involved. Plus kids' art stations and a photo opportunity with the big guy in the red suit. Your eyes, ears, and taste buds are in for a treat!
The festival will last from noon to 6 p.m.. But the climatic LHS choir performance will close out the evening after 6 p.m. on the main auditorium stage.
We encourage you to bring at least two canned goods for Allen Community Outreach. Another community event, held at the same time, is the art department's Empty Bowls project. Persons will be able to buy a bowl, hand-made by an art student in grades K-12. The funds from the project will be given to the Samaritan Inn.
Lovejoy Fine Arts Festival is planned by a committee representing the five different LHS fine arts booster clubs: band, orchestra, choir, theater, and Majestics.
