First grade students at Puster are excited about reading and connecting to literature! Puster first graders are doing a author study on Kevin Henkes. They are making connections to what they are reading. They are asking the question "What does this book remind me of?" They are making connections from the book to something about themselves, the world, or another book they have read. They are also practicing building their reading stamina when they are reading to themselves at literacy workstations!

Kindergarten learns how to use the computers PDF Print E-mail

Puster kindergartners learned how to log in on the computer on the 10th day of school.  After they logged in to the computer then they were able to create with pattern blocks in the Investigation Shapes software.

Puster 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to take part in technology club called the SWAT Team (Students Willing to Assist with Technology).  They meet before or after school and learn new tools that are available for them to use in the classroom.  This month the students learned how to use Photo Booth on the MacBooks.  They were able to create movies within minutes.  After learning how to use the program and spending time exploring with it, they brainstormed ideas of how to use it in the classroom.  It was an amazing day!  About 45 students came to our first sessions.

"Puster 5th Graders jumped right back into music last week by singing canons, reading rhythm patterns with sixteenth notes, and sight singing staff patterns.  It was wonderful to hear individuals explain to their classmates how to read music from the staff.  Way to go 5th Graders!"

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.
