Makaila Nevil, a freshman at LHS, attended the Fred J Miller color guard summer camp in San Antonio, July 2009.  The camp focused on rifle technique, leadership skills, team building and motivational instruction.

Nevil was one of only eight students awarded the Robert A. Black Higher Education College Scholarship, and the only freshman awarded. The scholarship is awarded to those students who exhibit "hard work, dedication, and determination."

Since she will not be starting college next year she will use the $1500 per semester scholarship for tuition to future Fred J Miller colorguard camps.

Erin McInerney, Alto 1, and Alex Malliet, Tenor 1, made Lovejoy Choir history by competing in the All-Area competition on Saturday, January 9th.  After narrowing each section down from hundreds to the top five through fall's long All-Region process, each Region send those high rankings students to compete for the top spots in the Area.  To be an All-Stater is one of the highest honors a high school singer in Texas can receive.

Senior Erin McInerney placed 2nd chair in the All-State Women's Choir.  She is the first choir member to have this great distinction at Lovejoy, and the district is so proud of her hard work!  The All-State Choirs will perform at the Texas Music Educators' Convention in San Antonio on February 13th.
