Dear Parents and Guardians, This weekend is a busy one for many parents in Lovejoy. It is anexample of what we were all thinking about way back in 2005 when we started working on the secondary program. One of the major componentsof the student experience we planned for back in '05 was to createopportunities for students to be well rounded. I think we have succeeded in this area. Starting Thursday evening, we had about 100 Sloan Creek students whoparticipated in opening night for "Guys and Dolls". On Friday morning, the high school cross country teams loaded the bus and headed for theState meet (to be run Saturday morning in Round Rock). On Fridayevening, the LHS volleyball team is headed for the semi-final round at Regionals and the Leopard football team plays in Greenville at 7:30 inthe first round of the playoffs. To top the weekend off, the LovejoyChess Club is holding its 2nd Annual Turkey Tournament all day Saturday at Sloan Creek (over 120 players are expected). I am very proud of all of the students who get to participate in theseevents (the players, band members, cheerleaders, drill team, etc.), and the students who get to go and cheer on their classmates. As a parent,I love to see our kids perform in real-life meaningful competitions andevents. The graduate profile theme of well-rounded is in full force this weekend in Lovejoy. Go Leopards! There is still time to sign up for the Turkey Trot, and you can enterto run or walk on the day of the event (see the entry form attached). If you have any questions or comments, you can contact me at
