Lovejoy Freshman Fare Well at OU Team Camp PDF Print E-mail

A group of seven Lovejoy Freshmen (along with a couple of SCMS 8th graders) traveled to OU Next Level Team Basketball Camp last week to play in the JV Division and finished with runner-up honors in their conference.  They fought with teams from Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri as they managed a 6-1 record in qualifying (losing their lone game by 1 point), and falling to the same team in the conference championship.  They are to be commended for a great performance, as the only team they lost to was a Varsity team consisting of only 1 Freshman.  As an added bonus, Shani Rainey was named MVP of the conference.  Below is a picture of the team with OU Coach Sheri Coale and their coach for the event Shelby Leffingwell.

LHS Girl's Lacrosse for 2010 now forming PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 27 May 2010 21:44

We’re looking into forming a girl’s lacrosse team at LHS next year.  The team can be comprised of freshman – seniors since it’s not UIL.  An estimated guess on cost is: about $300 - $400 to play (to pay the coaches salary, uniform, ref fees, membership into league, board insurance.)  Then you’d have to buy the stick, goggles, and cleats – probably $150 total.

Girl’s lacrosse is no contact – strictly a passing game.  The field set up is like soccer:  three middies, three defenders, three attack and one goalie.  It’s a fun exciting sport!  Lacrosse is a spring sport – starts in Jan. and runs til end of April.

If interested, go to www.leopardlacrosse.net; fill out the contact us form and we’ll be in touch.

Lacrosse's Used Cleat Collection Successful! PDF Print E-mail

By Bobbi Gilbert, Leopard Lacrosse President

Leopard Lacrosse Club chose to sponsor a Used Cleat Drive to
benefit the BRIDGES TO LACROSSE PROGRAM, which is designed to help start programs in under privileged communities.  This was our first community service project for our inaugural season.

The idea came to us after we played St. Philip’s in South Dallas.  Their team is comprised of boys who attend St. Philip’s and with boys from the neighborhood.  Since some parents may not be able to afford cleats for their children to participate, we thought of what better way to give back and donate cleats, that growing boys outgrow so quickly!

In total, we collected 28 pairs (5 of which are brand new!) and three used lacrosse helmets!  Thank you to all who donated and helped make this a huge success!

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.
