Lovejoy ISD Girl Scout Troop 1067 has earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award. The Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn, requires her to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a project that makes a positive impact on her community. Working towards this award demonstrates her commitment to helping others, improving her community and the world, and becoming the best she can be.

Troop 1067 built a walking path for the Creekwood United Methodist Church located at 261 Country Club Road. Picking the project was easy--the Church has done so many nice things for Lovejoy Elementary that the girls wanted to give a little back. Over a number of months, led by troop leader Dorinda Smith, the troop designed, planned and priced the project, while consulting landscape professionals along the way. Proceeds from the sale of their Girl Scout Cookies went toward the purchase of the materials. Each girl demonstrated the leadership skills and commitment to her community that each scout is expect to learn as a Junior Girl Scout. Each girl served 15 hours toward the completion of the walkway.

Through rain, mud and lots of heavy lifting, the walkway was completed on March 28th, 2009. The walkway leads from a handicapped and visitor parking lot into the church. This walkway of professional grade edging and decomposed granite stone is both functional and beautiful. Troop 1067 thanks Creekwood United Methodist Church for the opportunity to serve their community.

Congratulations to Troop 1067 Girl Scout Bronze Award Recipients- Ixchel Yundt-Pachenco, Rebecca Sipes, Catlin Hanson, Heidi Zettl, Shannon Ferguson, Riley Smith, Dylan DiCristofaro, Bella Cano, Melody Johannsen, Annalee Johnson, and Lexi Lafon.
