Band UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest

The LHS Band Students competed in the UIL Region 25 Solo & Ensemble Contest this weekend at Prosper High School.

3 Ensembles received an "Excellent" Rating

8 Solos received an "Excellent" Rating

8 Ensembles received a "Superior" Rating

38 Solos received a "Superior" Rating

Also, several of our students have qualified for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest to be held in May.

Congratulations to Coach Herrema and the Lovejoy Leopards Boys Basketball Team who won the Area Championship on Thursday evening and advance to the Regional Quarter finals tonight (3/1) at Texas A&M Commerce.  Thank you Coach Herrema for your patience and belief in these boys.....Go "get em" Leopards!!

By accident yesterday, I walked into the Community Senior luncheon at St Jude's church.  I was so proud to hear the LHS Jazz band entertaining the seniors for their Valentine Luncheon.  Also, the LHS Pal's group was there serving and tending to the guests.  All wore big smiles and truly enjoyed helping others in our community.  Thanks to all that helped this happen.  Our graduates will truly know what community service can feel like!  Well done!!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all our district staff who have given their support to Leopard Lacrosse:  Coach Puckett, we couldn't have done it without you; Ted Moore, thanks for helping us promote it; Linda Green - for helping me schedule the fields; and all the principals for helping us get the word out.  You've each welcomed this group for our boys and it's made the difference in making it possible!

Thanks to Greg Christensen, Josh Allen and Amanda Douglas for all of your dedication to the LHS CrossCountry teams!  Your talents as coaches show in BOTH the Girls and Boys teams winning second place at the State meet in Round Rock last Saturday.  We appreciate the hard work from you and our kids!

Thank you to Lisa Ellrich for her years of volunteering in our schools and community.  She served as President for Hart PTA and then as a school board member.  Her contributions will be felt for years to come.  Her leaving our district is a loss for us and our students and we wish her and her family all the best!

A BIG thank you to Ms. Bethany Green and all the voice teachers for showing once again why LHS has one of the TOP CHOIRS in the Region. To have 8 singers in the All Region Mixed Choir and another 12 with 1 alternate make the Treble Choir SINGS VOLUMES for our program.  GREAT JOB LHS choir members and thank you Ms. Green!!

A big kudos to Sara Krumrei for organizing all the fabulous spirit items for our football teams - thats tremendous amount of work to order, sort and distribute ... also huge kudos to Christine Downing, Treasurer for all you do to keep all the books straight .. Great job ladies - we appreciate you!  Val Turnbow and the Turnbow fellas

This is a THANK YOU to  Cindy Anderson the GT teacher at HART. You go above and beyond again and again, from summer book clubs to after school study hall. You have passed on a passion for learning and books to my daughter -your encouragement means so much to alll of us!  It is a comfort to know you will push and support her as she makes her way this year!  Thank you for all the unseen planning and hours of work at home-we are lucky to have you!

I just want to thank Kathy Foster and her amazing staff at Hart Elementary.  Their dedication and support of the Hart PTA has made me feel that I am truly in the "Hart" of Lovejoy.  I had very big shoes to fill as President of Hart's PTA this year and the staff has made my job not only fun, but easy.  Their electrifying enthusiasm is contagious and is felt through the children and the parents.  We have had amazing amount of volunteers step up and want to be involved.  I attribute this to the leadership and excitement that Mrs Foster has brought our way!!

It is so awesome to have Mrs. Larriviere at Hart.  She is so sweet and has put together some really neat videos to show the “Hart” of our school.  She and Mrs. Strickland and going to keep our library the warm and inviting place for our students that Mrs. Burnett had created.

The students that collected for the Scroggins were Taylor and Lisa Kramer, Kamie and Dalton LLoyd, Amanda Conner and Melissa Sayeed.

Thank you to all of the Hart teachers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty this year to stay before and after school with our kids to provide them with enriching extracurricular activities.  Thank you to Mrs. Noble for choir and student council, Mr. Preheim for geography club, Mrs. Burnett for Bluebonnet Club, Mrs. Reagan and Mrs. Anderson for UIL, and Mrs. Trudeau for Photo Story computer club, just to name a few.

It is exceptional for an elementary school to have so many teachers involved in this way, and we appreciate the big difference the gift of your time and talents makes for our kids!

A big thanks goes out to the Foundation for Lovejoy Schools for a great event!  A special thanks to the D&D crew for all their hard work. We can't wait until next year.

Thank you so much to all the parent and teacher volunteers who chaperoned the first Lovejoy High School After Prom.  You made it a fun, safe event for our kids.  We also want to thank the entire community for the support you have given the LHS PTSA in starting this tradition.  I particularly want to thank Vonda McFarling for her outstanding organizational skills.  It has been a pleasure working with you!

A big "Thank You" goes out to Jessica Brewster for the many hours she dedicates to our kids outside of the school day and the way she truly cares about them.  You are the BEST!

Mrs. Alford is so awesome!  She showed up Tuesday night to cheer for two of her 3rd grade girls playing softball.  She braved the chilly night and warmed the hearts of two little people in the process!  Thank you Mrs. Alford for letting your students know you care about them outside of the classroom too!

You guys have been such great friends and supporters of our community.  From donating snocone, cotton candy and popcorn machines for Family Fun Nights, to selling massive amounts of spiritwear where ever possible and then donating decorations along with your decorating expertise to community events, your dedication to this community has been an inspiration for many.

We love you and will miss you greatly!  Hope you all enjoy the Windy City!

Congratulations to our Lovejoy Elementary Chess kids.

They won the 2nd place team trophy at the 2009 Region 2 Scholastic Chess Tournament.  Marcus Mao brought home a 1st place individual trophy,  Heidi Zettl bringing home a 5th place individual trophy with Connor Redding winning 3 of 5 games.  184 players in 5 divisions!  Lovejoy Elementary also won the 2009 Region 3 Tournament last month, bringing home a 1st place team trophy.  Lovejoy ISD Chess is taking over in Texas one region at a time!

Go Lovejoy Chess!
