Good morning, Lovejoy Families,

Our PTA does have tickets for the upcoming RoughRider game on the 14^th of May.  A reminder that the deadline for purchasing tickets is tomorrow.  My plan was to have all the grandchildren at the game to enjoy baseball, food, and other Lovejoy Families.  Jennifer, Jackson, and Jeff will be in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Tennessee but I will have Kaitlyn and Austin at the game.  We hope you are able to attend.  I’ve attached the order form just in case you’ve misplaced yours.

Gifted and Talented Referrals Due Tomorrow by 4:00

Should you wish to nominate your 1^st to 5^th grade child for the Gifted and Talented program, the deadline is tomorrow, May 7^th by 4:00.  You may locate forms on the Lovejoy Elementary website under Parent Resources or you may find forms in the holder in the foyer. 

Updating Information for Next Year

Please take a few minutes to log on to Parent Portal and update your child’s demographic/bus information, if necessary.  This was completed by you at the beginning of the 09-10 school year and we are requesting that this information be updated twice a year; at the beginning of the school year and right after spring break.

Your login information is: your child’s first name_last name and the password is your child’s first initial, last initial and last four digits of their social security number.  Example:

Login:  Patty_Jackson   Password:  PJ1234.

Voting on Saturday

Election Day is Saturday, May 8 in the Lovejoy Elementary Gym.  The polls open at 7a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.

Parent Request Forms

Be sure to check your child’s Thursday Folder for teacher requests for the 2010 – 2011 school year.  You’ll note a change in grade level assignment for Brittany Scott.  She will

serve as a second grade teacher.  Second grade teacher, Amy Bradsher, will serve in a different role within the district. 

Blood Drive This Past February

You may recall that this past February, Mike Wilson sponsored a blood drive for his senior project.  The school with the most staff and families were to receive a plaque to be housed in their school until next year’s drive.  Lovejoy Elementary now has a lovely plaque in the front office!  Thanks to you all who were able to stop by the trailer and give blood.  We appreciate you supporting such a worthy cause. 

School Supply Lists Order Form

Be sure to check your child’s folder today for the bright pink flyer.  The school order form allows you to purchase prepackaged supplies to be delivered to the school before the Meet the Teacher Night.  The deadline for returning the form is Wednesday, May 26^th. 

Calling All Kindergarteners

As of now, we have 54 kindergarteners registered for the 2010 – 2011 school year.  If you have a child beginning school this next year or if you know of someone zoned for Lovejoy Elementary, we’d like to encourage you to contact Peggy Whitmore at (469)742-8083 about registering your child as soon as possible.  This allows us to plan for the upcoming school year.  Also, we hope to include all of our newcomers in the Kindergarten Sneak Peek next Friday, May 14^th at 9:00.
