Lovejoy High School Parents, Community and Friends,
I had an opportunity to spend some time with the high school students this afternoon and share with them what I am about to share with you.
One of my main missions and goals when I came to Lovejoy was to build a high school that would make the community proud, gain national and state recognition, and most importantly set a culture that would prepare each and every student who walks the halls to reach their full potential through the avenue of the Lovejoy Graduate Profile. I believe we have set a program that is well on its way to do just that. My heart is so proud of the students, the staff and the community for what it has become and for what the future holds.
With that said, my life mission has always been to impact the lives of those around me. I've had the opportunity over the past five years to be a part of something so much greater than I ever expected. From my first moments of working on a community playground built at Lovejoy Elementary, to listening to my students who run to me to tell me of the college they have been accepted to, it has all been much bigger than me.
I was presented and opportunity for an even deeper impact. This week I was presented the opportunity to become the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations at Prosper ISD. Yesterday morning I accepted that opportunity with a joyful heart. Joyful in the sense of what has been established as a legacy to be built on here at LovejoyHigh School and an excitement of what potential is ahead in Prosper ISD.
I will finish out the school year through graduation (June 5th, 2010 10:00 am, AllenEventsCenter - you better believe I have a whopper of a speech for that one) and the district will begin their process of transition after that in the coming weeks.
I told the students today, "Once a Leopard, always a Leopard." Each one of them and my staff, as well as many of you, are now a piece of me forever. Dena, Brock and I are so thankful for that.
Go ahead and forgive me in advance if I hug a few more times than usual and connect a few more time than normal, but I want to grasp every moment over the next six weeks or so as to take it all in.
The promise of what is ahead is exciting for me, knowing the legacy will continue through the students, staff and community here deepens my pride in what is to come.
You all are loved.
