Thursday Edition

November 12, 2009

Dear Lovejoy Community:

We are one week away from the Thanksgiving holiday for Lovejoy ISD. All district schools and offices will be closed during the week of November 23. There is such a natural connection between a holiday called Thanksgiving and a school district called Lovejoy. While we remain committed to continuous improvement on every campus and in each classroom, it is important to remain aware of the many things in our community deserving of appreciation. Please know that I appreciate the taxpayers who fund our schools, the parents who give generously of your time and money, and of course, the great kids who fill our classrooms.

Want to be Entertained? Quality Performance tonight, Friday, and Saturday

Guys & Dolls performances at LHS, Today, Friday, & Saturday!

Don't miss it!  If you haven't bought your tickets, PLEASE do so at the

ONLINE box office, where you'll choose your RESERVED SEATS.  The link is now located on the quick links bar on top of the SCMS homepage

http://scms.lovejoyisd.net/.  You will need to print out your receipt and

bring it with you.  It has a barcode on it that will be scanned—LHS theatre goes high tech. Avoid waiting in long lines at the box office—buy your tickets easily in

the convenience of your own home.

Meet me at the LHS Fieldhouse at 8:45 on Friday morning

Cross Country is a sport that requires hard work, dedication, and a focus on continuous improvement. The Leopard X-Country team has already established themselves with excellence. In our fourth season, we have sent kids to the state level every year. This year, both our boys and girls teams, will compete in the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday. Please join me in the morning to send off both teams in typical Lovejoy fashion. They will leave from the fieldhouse.

Post Season Play Continues

Leopard Football enters into the first round of post district play tomorrow night. The Leopards will play at 7:30 pm in Greenville. The Lady Leopard Volleyball team is playing in the Regional semi-finals tomorrow night at 8:00 pm in the coliseum on the campus of Texas A&M-Commerce. The regional finals will be played in the same venue on Saturday night.

Save the Date—Denim and Diamonds

The Foundation for Lovejoy Schools will hold our annual fundraising gala at Southfork Ranch on April 24, 2010. Christi Dale will chair this year’s event and she would like for everyone to know that our tax deductible donations of auction items for the gala are now being accepted. For more info, please email the Jeff Miracle, executive director of the foundation at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Please accept my best wishes for a wonderful end of the week.

Respectfully,

Ted Moore

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
