Dear Lovejoy Community:

Sometimes our success creates a new challenge for us and we find ourselves in that position today. Let me start with the success of our students:

• Lovejoy Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Teams won Second Place at the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday
• Lovejoy Volleyball Team won the 2009 Regional Tourney and are on their way to the State Tournament in San Marcos this week
• Lovejoy Leopard Football Team won the first round of the playoffs and will play again on Friday in Hallsville

Now the challenge, we need 11 buses and bus drivers to accommodate all of our transportation requests for Friday. In order to manage our student transportation needs for Friday, we are going to have an early release day on Friday. Our elementary campuses will release at 12:00 noon, middle school at 12:45 and high school at 1:00. As usual, our elementary Kids’ First, after school program will run from 12:00 until 5:30 for those students currently enrolled in the program.

We appreciate your flexibility in making this early release option work for us on the Friday before the beginning of the Thanksgiving vacation week. If you are an elementary parent who would like to access the Kids’ First after school program for this one day only, we are providing an option for you to sign up for this one day drop in program. In order to accommodate for staffing for Kids’ First on Friday, we need the enrollment form and your $20 fee delivered to your campus office by noon on Wednesday, 11/18/2009.

For those of you who have difficulty finding childcare on short notice, I hope this option is helpful. Here is the form: Enrollment Form 

Thanks again for your help in assisting us with this late change to our schedule. As you know, we have the parent notification system, Alert Now, which calls each household with important information. Due to the relative late notice of this decision, we will utilize Alert Now tomorrow to ensure that everyone has prior notice of the change of our schedule for Friday.
