Hart Families and Friends,

Early Release Day

Today your little ones will be heading home a little earlier than normal due to our Early release day. Some on you may wonder what it is our staff accomplish on these days so I thought I would keep you in the loop. Here in LISD we are committed to professional development and growing and learning as professionals. These early release days provide campuses the opportunity to continue working on those areas we have identified for our own professional development . Today our staff will be working together to reflect on how far we have come in our goals and what we need to set our sights on next. Whether it is our effectiveness in planning, analyzing data, using the data to provide meaningful student intervention we are committed to a journey of continuous improvement. Thank you for your flexibility and allowing our staff to have meaningful time to work together!

On-Line Auction Coming to a Close

Be Sure to check out the items available from Hart on the on-line auction. We have some opportunities for our students to enjoy and we do not want you to miss out on the fun! The bidding ends this Sunday, April 18th. I can't wait to see who wins the Principal for half a day and the kick-ball game. Both of those are mine and they were so much fun last year! Here is the link for you to visit the on-line auction...www.foundationforlovejoyschools.org.

Pennies for Peace

Who knew that a six day competition between boys and girls could be such a huge success? Our students have participated in this project as part of the Lovejoy Legacy Readers Community Read with the book Three Cups of Tea. Hart students have had a chance to read the book themselves or have the picture book read to them. The students have learned the value and importance of a penny in an impoverished country where children have minimal access to schools. These last six days students were invited to participate by bringing in their pennies to support this cause. At the beginning of the penny drive the girls were simply crushing the boys and there really was not much of a competition. Then Mr. James got the boys all fired up and believe or not, they boys actually pulled off a win with one huge day of donations! Together the boys and girls brought in a total of $1,335.49 . Thanks to everyone for your support of this cause!

Another week is coming to a close and it seems like the days are going by faster and faster. Believe it or not we have just six weeks left in this school year! I know we have lots left do, but we do want to remember to enjoy and appreciate these days we have together!

An update from the Foster House... we managed not to break anything significant this week so things are looking up. :)

Enjoy the weekend,

Kathy :)

About This Site

So much can be said in a name. In our case, our name says it all. First and foremost, this web site is a labor of love by a group of parents to celebrate the school district that is the heart of our community.

Lovejoy is a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents of all ages. This is a web site by and for our community. There are so many good things happening in this community on a daily basis that we had to dedicate a whole web site to showcase them.

We hope this web site will be a source of inspiration, and we invite all of you to share the love that is Lovejoy!
